Tahu-verse Two: Electric Bionicle-oo - When Toa Tahu Met Mechs and More

Your wallet can relax for now. LEGO hasn't announced a new Tahu set – yet. But the fan builds coming out of the Bionicle community are getting wild. The Brothers Brick highlighted some incredible creations from fan builder Danyil, affectionately nicknamed hotdog_waffles on Instagram, who clearly has a thing for the Toa of Fire. It’s a deep dive into what happens when Bionicle lore crashes into other LEGO themes.

Danyil’s imagination seems to be the primary source here, with builds like a Toa-fied mech set that frankly looks better than some official releases. Then there’s the "Tahulkbuster," a mash-up that makes the official Hulkbuster look a bit shy. We also see Nui-Metal, which sounds exactly as cursed as it probably is, and a Bionicle backrooms build that’s genuinely unsettling. If you’re looking for something less terrifying, Danyil’s cats apparently weren't safe from Tahu-fication either, showcasing an impressive range of Hau mask builds, even at larger scales like Omega Tahu.

Beyond the Tahu-centric creations, Danyil also participated in a Toa Mecha collaboration, showing off a build called Tahutron. The article also points to other fans riffing on similar themes, like part_parakeet’s "Doomscroll," which Danyil humorously reimagined as "Dumescroll." It’s clear the Bionicle fandom is alive and kicking, constantly finding new ways to celebrate their favourite characters and themes.

While LEGO officially paid tribute to Tahu with a Collectible Minifigure, these fan builds demonstrate the enduring passion and creativity within the community. The variety of interpretations, from mecha mash-ups to unsettling backrooms, shows just how versatile the original Bionicle designs remain. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most exciting LEGO creations come not from the factory, but from the dedicated fans themselves.

No official Indian pricing is available for these fan builds, as they are not commercial sets. However, if LEGO were to release such ambitious Bionicle-themed sets officially in India, expect them to command a premium. This would likely cost the equivalent of 10 months of Spotify Premium Family Plan. MyBrickHouse and Toycra are the stores to watch for any future official Bionicle releases or similar fan-inspired sets. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.
