LEGO Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory Motorcycle (42238) Officially Revealed

Your wallet can breathe a little easier. LEGO has officially unveiled the Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory Motorcycle, set number 42238. This isn't a car, which is a win for some. It features 457 pieces and is set to launch globally on August 1st.

The set carries a price tag of £44.99, US$49.99, or €49.99. While Ducati has appeared in Technic before, this marks the return of a motocross bike to the line-up after a few years. Early impressions from the internet are mixed, as is tradition. Some fans lament the lack of a gearbox, seeing it as a step back for Technic bikes of this scale, especially given the visible piston. Others find the price reasonable for a licensed Technic model, particularly one that isn't a car.

The design itself has drawn some criticism, with comments pointing out a "terrible" front end and an "ambitious" steering head angle that makes it look like a downhill variant. However, many appreciate the smaller scale and the return of a dirt bike. It seems to be a set that will appeal to those who want a decent-looking licensed bike without breaking the bank. Whether the visual appeal outweighs the functional omissions remains to be seen. It's a decent-looking Technic set, and importantly, it's not a car. The clear cylinder piece for the engine is also a new detail for fans to note.

The estimated import price for the LEGO Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory Motorcycle (42238) is around ₹5,200. That's about enough for 10 large plates of street-side biryani. MyBrickHouse and Toycra are the stores to watch for its availability, which typically lags 4–6 weeks behind the global launch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

It’s a solid looking model for the price, but the absence of a gearbox and some design quirks might make you pause. For those patient enough to wait for a sale or a price drop, this could be a good addition. Otherwise, it’s a ‘maybe’ for now.

Keep building, keep dreaming... And don't let your wallet see your LEGO wishlist.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.

On that bombshell, bubyee.
