The announcement came out of Gamescom 2026, where LEGO gave attendees a first look. We're talking about sets designed for builders of all ages, including some 4+ options, so everyone can jump into building their own Super Mario adventures. The range starts with the tiny 72052 Mario’s Pipe Jump, packing just 64 pieces for a US$9.99 price tag. On the other end of the spectrum is the massive 72060 Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle, a hefty 850-piece build that will set you back US$99.99. This is a significant refresh for the theme, and the inclusion of minifigures across these sets is a major win. Across these eight sets, ten iconic Super Mario characters will debut as minifigures, including Mario, Luigi, Bowser Jr., Toad, and Yoshi, alongside various powered-up versions and enemies like Koopa Troopa.

Patrick Otley, Design Manager at LEGO, stated this is a "celebration of our partnership with Nintendo," aiming to give kids more freedom to create their own stories. Ricardo Silva, another Design Manager for the theme, even gave walkthroughs at Gamescom. While the concept of LEGO Super Mario minifigures is fantastic, the actual sets still lean heavily into the interactive game mechanics, which might not appeal to everyone. The pricing, while accessible for the smaller sets, escalates quickly for the larger builds.
