LEGO Star Wars Fan Build Hints at New Tropes for Builds

The internet is awash with LEGO Star Wars creations, and it’s not even the 50th anniversary yet. Thanks to the Glup Bricko contest, fans are flexing their creative muscles, and one particular build is catching the eye. Bas van Houwelingen, already known for an impressive Porg mosaic, has submitted a new piece that’s a world away from cute and cuddly.

This latest creation depicts a lone stormtrooper, seemingly fallen amidst the trees of Endor. It’s a stark contrast to the usual heroic poses or massive fleet builds we often see. The builder has used constraction armour pieces and Bionicle elements to evoke the dense, arboreal environment of the forest moon, suggesting a narrative of defeat for the Galactic Empire. It’s a more sombre, poignant take on the Star Wars universe, proving that LEGO Star Wars builds aren't just about TIE Fighters and X-wings.

What’s particularly interesting is the inclusion of elements from the short-lived LEGO Planets line. These sets, known for their display stands and unique planetary representations, are a clever touch that adds another layer of detail and nostalgia for long-time fans. It hints at a potential for more narrative-driven, diorama-style builds within the Star Wars theme, moving beyond just character figures or vehicle models. While this is a fan creation and not an official LEGO set, it showcases the kind of storytelling and unique part usage that LEGO could explore further.

No official set numbers or details have emerged from this fan build, and it’s unlikely to be a retail product. However, it serves as an excellent example of how creative builders are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with LEGO bricks, especially within popular themes like Star Wars. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most compelling stories are told in the quiet moments, like a single stormtrooper’s final stand.

No Indian store prices are available for this fan-made creation, as it is not an official LEGO product. If a similar official set were to be released, based on the complexity and potential piece count, expect pricing to be comparable to 18 months of Netflix Premium. Keep an eye on MyBrickHouse and Toycra for potential official Star Wars releases. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.
