LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants Returns with New Icons and BrickHeadz Sets

The friendly sea sponge is back, and your wallet might need a life jacket. LEGO has officially announced the return of the SpongeBob SquarePants theme, with two new sets hitting shelves soon. This marks the first major SpongeBob release since the theme officially ended its run back in 2012, excluding any tie-ins for the LEGO Dimensions game.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the LEGO Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom set (11386). This massive build, featuring 1794 pieces, recreates the iconic Conch Street neighbourhood. You get SpongeBob’s pineapple house, Squidward’s Easter Island head-inspired home, and Patrick’s rock, all rendered with impressive detail. The interiors are packed with recognizable elements from the show, including SpongeBob’s living room and bedroom, Squidward’s music room, and even a detailed Jellyfish Fields scene. It also comes with minifigures of SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Gary the Snail, and a surprise appearance from DoodleBob. This set is clearly aimed at adult fans, as indicated by the Icons branding and the substantial piece count.

Alongside the main display piece, LEGO is also releasing a SpongeBob SquarePants BrickHeadz figure (40858). This smaller set, with 72 pieces, captures the cheerful essence of SpongeBob in the collectible BrickHeadz style, perfect for desk or shelf display.

Both sets are slated for a global release on September 1st. While pre-orders are open now in some regions, Indian pricing and availability are still up in the air. Given the US price of $219.99 for the Bikini Bottom set and £189.99 in the UK, expect this to be a significant investment once it lands on Indian shores. The BrickHeadz figure, priced at $12.99 or £10.99, should be more accessible. This return to Bikini Bottom is exciting for long-time fans, but the price point for the larger set might require some serious jellyfishing to save up for.

No official Indian pricing has been announced for either set yet. Based on the international prices, the LEGO Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom set could easily retail for over ₹20,000 when it eventually arrives.
