LEGO Shrek Collectable Minifigures Revealed: Ogre-ly Expensive?

LEGO has officially announced a new series of Collectable Minifigures, and this time they’re diving deep into the swamp with characters from the Shrek movies. Yes, you read that right. Ogre, Donkey, Fiona – they’re all coming. This is either a dream come true or a nightmare fuel situation, depending on how you feel about animated ogres in plastic form.

There will be twelve minifigures in total to collect. Some of these come with an extra buddy, like Fiona and Donkey, which is a nice touch. We’ve got Shrek himself, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Dragon, Lord Farquaad, Thelonious, Gingy, Pinocchio (who also comes with one of the Three Blind Mice), Big Bad Wolf (also with mice), Merlin, Fairy Godmother, and Prince Charming. The inclusion of the Three Blind Mice across multiple figures is an interesting, if slightly annoying, way to get collectors to buy more than they planned. It’s also amusing to think we’re getting both Disney and DreamWorks versions of characters like Pinocchio thanks to previous CMF series.

The international price is set at £3.49, $4.99, or €3.99 per blind bag. Release date is September 1st.

No specific Indian pricing has been announced yet, but given the international price, expect these to be roughly ₹400-500 per minifigure. That's enough for about 10 kg of onions, or a couple of decent biryani platters. Fan reactions online are mixed. Some are thrilled by the sheer existence of Shrek LEGOs, calling it "so cool." Others are less impressed, with comments pointing out that the character designs, particularly for Shrek and Fiona, don't quite hit the mark. Some feel the heads are poorly executed or the reuse potential for parts is limited. There's also the classic CMF dilemma: do you buy them all, try to find specific ones, or wait for a discounted bundle? Given the mixed reception and the potential for over-saturation in the CMF line, waiting for a price drop or a bundle deal seems like the sensible move here. This isn't a must-buy for everyone, especially if the designs don't win you over immediately.
