LEGO Pokémon Expands with Minifigures, Arcanine, and Rayquaza Sets

The LEGO Group is doubling down on Pokémon, and this time, they’re bringing minifigures. After launching larger-scale creature builds, the company has just announced five new sets that include beloved Pokémon like Arcanine, Rayquaza, and Munchlax. The real kicker? The very first LEGO Pokémon minifigures are included, which is bound to get collectors buzzing, even if your wallet is already bracing for impact.

Leading the charge is the 72154 Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball set. This massive 2,339-piece build features a brick-built Poké Ball that opens up to reveal scenes from a trainer’s journey, including Professor Oak’s lab. Crucially, it comes with three trainer minifigures – Professor Oak, Picnicker, and Red – along with figures of Pikachu and Eevee. This is the first time we’re seeing actual LEGO Pokémon minifigures, a significant step for the line.

Beyond the Poké Ball, we’re getting some substantial Pokémon builds. The 72150 Munchlax set offers a 757-piece recreation of the hungry Pokémon, standing over 18cm tall with poseable parts. Then there’s the 72160 Arcanine, an 1,190-piece set promising a fully poseable and detailed fiery beast. For fans of the legendary dragons, the 72168 Rayquaza set boasts 1,083 pieces and includes an exclusive Lorekeeper Zinnia minifigure, recreating a scene from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Finally, the 40868 Up-Scaled Red Minifigure set gives us a large, poseable build of the iconic trainer Red himself, complete with his signature hat and a Poké Ball.

These sets are available for pre-order on LEGO.com starting today. While official Indian pricing and availability are still some way off, the US retail prices give us a ballpark. The Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball comes in at $299.99, with the other sets ranging from $69.99 for Munchlax up to $119.99 for Rayquaza.

No official Indian prices or release dates have been announced yet. Given the US pricing, expect the Trainer Moments Poké Ball to land somewhere around ₹28,000–32,000, and the other sets to follow suit with significant price tags. The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International are clearly pleased with the reception of the initial sets and are betting big on minifigures to drive further interest. It’s a smart move, tapping into the collector base that’s been clamoring for proper LEGO Pokémon figures since the line’s inception. The inclusion of Red and his iconic trainer companions in the Poké Ball set is a clear nod to the franchise’s roots, which should resonate strongly with long-time fans. Whether these new additions will justify their likely premium prices in India remains to be seen, but the minifigure factor alone is a massive draw.
