LEGO Pokémon 30729 Premier Ball: Gift With Purchase Details

LEGO's new Pokémon SMART Play range has dropped, and one of the first items to surface is the 30729 Premier Ball. This little brick-built orb is currently available as a gift with purchase, requiring a spend of over £35 or €40. Don't expect any fancy SMART Play features here; this is a straightforward build, a recruitment bag for your pocket.

The Premier Ball itself is constructed from a solid collection of plates and curved slopes, predominantly in white and red. It’s a dense, cuboid representation of the iconic item, sturdy enough for imaginative play – just maybe aim away from unsuspecting family members. Unlike some other LEGO items, this one didn’t carry the ‘do not throw’ symbol, which is a small but notable detail.

However, the choice of a basic white ball might feel a bit underwhelming. Given the vast array of more colourful and distinctive Poké Ball designs available in the Pokémon universe, a plain white one feels like a missed opportunity. It also lacks any opening mechanism, which might disappoint some fans. This particular Premier Ball is known from Pokémon GO for its use in capturing Raid Bosses or Shadow Pokémon, and also features in the main series games as a bonus for purchasing multiple standard Poké Balls.

Despite these limitations, the set does include some interesting parts and feels substantial enough for its implied value. The review suggests it's a reasonable inclusion for a £35 purchase, especially when compared to the larger LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets. While not much to write home about on its own, similar promotional items have historically become available separately later on from various sources. For now, it’s a way to snag some extra LEGO bricks with a qualifying purchase.

It is not yet available in Indian stores, and fans will likely need to wait 4–6 weeks after the global launch for potential availability. Keep an eye on Toycra and MyBrickHouse for updates. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT — check prices at MyBrickHouse and Toycra before pulling the trigger.
