LEGO MOC: Colourful Aztec Temple Inspired by Ancient Deities and Modern Builders

This particular temple is the brainchild of Nannan Zhang, a builder who has been refining the concept for about five years. The initial idea was to take Bruce Lowell's optical illusion, the "bottomless pit," and transform it into a Mesoamerican structure. That alone would have been impressive, but Nannan didn't stop there.

The intricate patterns adorning the temple's exterior are made using interlocking rail plates, a technique first showcased by Piotr Hofman over a decade ago. These elements come together to form a visually striking base. However, the true showstopper is the feathered serpent, Quetzalcoatl, rearing out of the top. This addition was directly inspired by Donny Chen's well-known golden dragon build. It’s a beautiful fusion of ancient mythology and modern LEGO artistry, proving that a great build can spark even greater ones.
