LEGO Ideas E.T. Set: A Nostalgic Trip Back to the '80s?

LEGO has tapped into the collective memory of a generation with a new Ideas set based on E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The folks at BrickNerd took a deep dive into this one, and it sounds like a serious nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up in the '80s. The set leans on Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic: the film’s unforgettable scenes, iconic music, and hidden Easter eggs directly inspired the creation of this LEGO set.

It seems LEGO has packed this set with nods to the movie’s most memorable moments. The build process itself becomes a journey through the film’s narrative. Think about recreating E.T.'s glowing finger pointing to the sky, or that magical bicycle flying across the moon. These aren't just bricks; they're pieces of cinematic history being reassembled. The article emphasizes the Easter eggs within the set, suggesting that dedicated fans will find plenty of little details that pay homage to the movie's enduring legacy.

This isn't just another licensed set; it’s a carefully crafted tribute. It’s clear a lot of thought went into translating the emotional core of E.T. into a tangible LEGO experience. If you remember watching E.T. on VHS, likely huddled around a television, this set promises to bring those feelings back, brick by brick.

No specific Indian pricing or availability details are confirmed yet for the LEGO Ideas E.T. set. Given the set's likely premium positioning as part of the Ideas line, expect it to be a significant investment when it eventually lands here. This is the kind of set that will make you pause and consider your monthly expenses, much like calculating the EMI for a new smartphone. Keep an eye on Toycra and MyBrickHouse for updates; a 4–6 week lag from global release is standard. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

While the exact set number and release date for India remain under wraps, the anticipation is palpable. This release taps into a powerful sense of nostalgia, aiming to connect with fans who grew up with E.T. and now want to share that experience with a new generation, or simply relive it themselves. It’s a reminder of a simpler time in filmmaking and toy-making, proving that some stories, and some bricks, are truly timeless.
