LEGO DC Batman Returns Batmobile (76355) Announced: Transformation Feature A Highlight

Your wallet just got a heads-up from Gotham. LEGO has officially unveiled the DC Batman Returns Batmobile (76355), and it’s a big one. This isn’t just another Batmobile; it’s a direct successor to the massive 76139 1989 Batmobile, promising an equally impressive build and display piece.

The set boasts 2,269 pieces, capturing the iconic vehicle from Tim Burton's 1992 film. It’s packed with authentic details, from the elongated bodywork and rear engine to the opening canopy. But the real showstopper is the innovative transformation feature. For the first time ever in a LEGO Batmobile, a button press will release the side panels, revealing a hidden Batmissile escape vehicle. This mechanism recreates a dramatic movie moment, allowing fans to display the model as either the Batmobile or the Batmissile.

To achieve this, LEGO designers developed three new elements, including a unique Batman Minifigure cowl and a newly molded cape for the exclusive Batman Minifigure. This figure comes on a dedicated stand featuring the Batman Returns logo. The press release highlights hidden details too, like The Penguin's tracking device, a nod to memorable film moments.

The build experience is expected to be engaging, with the transformation function adding a layer of complexity and playability that was absent in previous large-scale Batmobiles. While the 2019 Batmobile was a magnificent display piece, its sheer size and single-mode design made it less accessible. This new version, while still substantial, offers more value with its dual-mode capability and a more manageable scale.

The set will be available for LEGO Insiders from September 1st, 2026, with a general release on September 4th. The US price is set at US$229.99.

In India, the official LEGO MRP is ₹22,000. That's 16 months of Spotify Premium Family Plan. While no Indian stores have listed it yet, expect Toycra and MyBrickHouse to potentially stock it within 4–6 weeks of the global launch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

While the price is significant, the inclusion of a transformation feature and new elements might justify it for dedicated Batman fans. However, considering the previous Batmobile’s price point and the current launch strategy, waiting for potential discounts is a sensible approach. The inclusion of only one minifigure, despite the film’s rich supporting cast, is a slight miss.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
