LEGO Bionicle Fan Build: Ta-Matoran Lava Shrine MOC

The quest for more Bionicle continues, but not in the way most fans expected. A prolific minifig creator, known as jdm_bricks, has returned to the MOC world with a stunning Ta-Matoran adventure. This isn't an official LEGO set, mind you, but a fan-made creation that’s capturing attention.

The build itself is remarkably sleek and smooth, almost studless, which is a departure from typical LEGO System builds. The color usage is incredible, particularly the striking red that evokes the Islander King Kahuka’s mask. The scale of this MOC is also a standout feature. It uses a new minifig Tahu mask, making the golden Kanohi appear like a massive monument. The base of the structure cleverly employs jumper plates and round 1×1 tiles, which deceptively create the illusion of large exposed studs, adding to the polished aesthetic.

Beyond the bricks, there's a touch of Bionicle lore. The creator shares a narrative about a lone Ta-Matoran navigating precarious lava flows to find a shrine to Mata Nui, seeking peace of mind by focusing on the Great Virtues. It’s a nice nod to the deep lore that Bionicle fans appreciate.

While this is a fan creation and not an official set, it certainly shows what’s possible within the LEGO System. It’s a reminder of the enduring appeal of Bionicle and the creativity of the LEGO fan community.

Since this is a fan-made MOC and not an official set, there are no official Indian prices or availability. If you were to attempt to recreate this yourself using custom parts or sourcing individual bricks, expect costs to vary wildly. This build would likely cost the same as three EMIs on a decent washing machine, assuming you sourced parts wisely. Keep an eye on MyBrickHouse and Toycra for custom parts or potential Bionicle-themed sets that might emerge in the future. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

It’s a beautiful piece of fan art, showcasing inventive building techniques and a deep understanding of the Bionicle aesthetic. It might not be official, but it’s a compelling creation for any Bionicle lover.

On that bombshell, bubyee.
