LEGO 72306 PlayStation Set: A Near 1:1 Replica of Sony's Iconic Console Announced

The wallet is already bracing itself for October. LEGO and Sony have teamed up, revealing the 72306 PlayStation set, a near 1:1 replica of the original Sony PlayStation. This isn't a small, cute build either. It's 1,911 pieces of pure nostalgia, designed to capture the essence of the console that redefined gaming in 1994.

This set lets you build the iconic grey box, complete with functional buttons for power and opening the disc tray. You can even plug in a brick-built controller. Inside the console, LEGO has hidden two mini dioramas celebrating classic PlayStation titles: Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. These little scenes can be displayed separately or tucked away inside the console. It’s a clever touch, bringing two beloved games to life in brick form. The controller, while not a Dual Shock, is a solid representation of the original design.

The release date is set for October 1st, 2026, for LEGO Insiders, with a general release on October 4th. The global pricing is out, and it’s in the typical LEGO collector's item range. This collaboration opens the door for more gaming-themed sets, following in the footsteps of the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Atari 2600, and SEGA Genesis. Imagine what could come next – a Metal Gear Solid set, perhaps? Or maybe a Crash Bandicoot display? The possibilities are exciting for any gamer who grew up with these consoles.

In India, the official LEGO 72306 PlayStation set has an MRP of ₹17,000. While not yet available in local stores, expect MyBrickHouse and Toycra to list it within 4–6 weeks of the global launch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. That price is enough for about 25 kg of good quality rice, or roughly three months of a decent DTH service.

This set is clearly aimed at the dedicated gamer who also happens to be a LEGO fan. The near 1:1 scale and the inclusion of playable elements like the buttons and controller make it a display piece with interactive potential. The dioramas inside are a particularly nice detail for fans who remember playing those games. It’s a strong offering that taps into a massive cultural moment in gaming history. While the price might seem steep, the piece count and the unique licensing suggest it’s positioned as a premium collector's item. Given the history of similar large-scale gaming sets, this will likely be a popular item.

On that bombshell...

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
