LEGO 40912 Sea Serpent Gift-With-Purchase Revealed

Brickset has revealed the LEGO 40912 Sea Serpent, a gift-with-purchase set based on the classic 6057 Sea Serpent from 1992. This nostalgic build is the winner of the 'A Twist of Nostalgia' Ideas competition, bringing a piece of the past back to our shelves. It's set to launch on LEGO.com starting July 7th.

However, the exact spending threshold required to snag this freebie remains unconfirmed. This is a common frustration for fans who love these smaller, themed sets but often find the qualifying purchase amount out of reach. Many commenters express a desire to simply purchase these sets outright, rather than be forced into buying other, potentially less desired, items just to get the GWP. The original 1992 set came with five minifigures, and some fans feel the new version falls short in that regard, along with other proportion and accessory details.

Despite some criticisms regarding minifigure count and stylistic differences from the original, the new sail and shield elements are receiving praise. The inclusion of brown elements and clever SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques for the castle turret pieces are also noted positively. For those who missed out on the original or long for that castle theme nostalgia, this set holds significant appeal. The challenge, as always with GWPs, will be meeting the spending requirement without feeling like you're overpaying for unwanted bricks. Given the GWP nature and no confirmed set price, this is unlikely to be available through standard Indian retail channels.

The USD retail price for comparable sets of this size is typically around US$20-US$30. Based on that, the estimated import price for 40912 Sea Serpent would be ₹2,700–₹3,800. That's enough for about 7-10 days of good quality biryani. MyBrickHouse and Toycra are the stores to watch for any potential future availability, though GWP sets rarely make it to these shores. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. Expect a 4–6 week lag from global launch if they ever surface.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: IMPORT ONLY. Not in Indian stores — grey market or wait.
