This LEGO creation is something else. A 4-foot long floating palace, inspired by Emperor Yang of Sui's actual royal barge. Your wallet can probably relax for now, as this isn't a retail set. It's a fan-built masterpiece by Qian Yong Jie, currently on display at the Brick Culture Festival in Suzhou.
The sheer scale of this build is staggering. It measures 130 centimeters in length, which is about 4 feet for us metric-averse folks. That's a serious chunk of plastic bricks. Yong Jie has brought the historical accounts of the emperor's magnificent ship to life, and it’s packed with gold elements. The dragon head prow is a particular highlight, with its scaly texture blending into a menacing smile. It’s minifigure scale, so imagine the tiny courtiers milling about this behemoth.
This impressive barge is part of the "Bricks of China" spotlight at the festival, which is now in its sixth year and has expanded to a three-week celebration. It's a fantastic initiative, bringing Chinese history and stories to life through LEGO. Yong Jie himself is no stranger to this, having built other LEGO tributes to Chinese cultural sites and artifacts, like a magnificent Leifeng Pagoda.
Since this is a fan creation and not an official LEGO set, we can't give you an Indian price or availability. But if LEGO were to ever release something of this magnitude, especially with such a unique historical theme, expect it to be a significant investment.
If this were officially sold in India, it would cost roughly the same as 18 months of Netflix – assuming LEGO India's usual enthusiasm for your wallet. MyBrickHouse and Toycra would be the first places to check, though availability would likely be limited. Use code ABHINAV12 for 12% off on orders above ₹500 at Toycra. Expect a 4–6 week lag from any global launch, assuming it ever happens.
It’s a reminder of the incredible creativity within the LEGO fan community. Seeing these historical structures re-imagined in brick form is always a treat. For now, admire the pictures and dream of what might be.
On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.
