23,000 Pieces, 18kg Spaceship: Is This SHIPtember Marvel Worth the Import Pain?
Your wallet is already sweating. We're talking about a LEGO creation that defies logic and possibly gravity. This isn't a retail set, mind you. This is a SHIPtember build, a "Seriously Huge Investment in Parts," and the one shown here is an absolute monster. We're looking at a spaceship that stretches an unbelievable 183 studs long. Forget fitting this on a shelf; you might need a separate room.
The sheer scale is mind-boggling. Weighing in at a staggering 18.3 kilograms – that's over 40 pounds of pure ABS plastic – and constructed from an insane 23,000 individual pieces. To put that into perspective, that's more pieces than most of the largest official LEGO sets combined. The builder, Jean-Phillippe Leroux, has also integrated 102 LEDs, which must look spectacular when lit, illuminating all those internal voids.
These internal cavities, while saving on parts and weight, present a significant structural challenge. Keeping a build of this magnitude stable and intact is a monumental feat of engineering. It’s the kind of build that makes you question your sanity, or at least your patience.
The inspiration behind this colossal vessel is as eclectic as its construction. While heavily influenced by the sci-fi universe of "The Expanse," the primary shaping cues apparently came from a simple fidget spinner. Who knew a toy meant to occupy restless hands could be the genesis of such an epic spaceship? It’s a reminder that creativity knows no bounds, and inspiration can strike from the most unexpected corners of the universe.
Since this is a custom build and not an official LEGO set, it’s not available for purchase through standard retail channels. There's no set number, no official price, and certainly no direct path for Indian fans to acquire it.
Official Indian pricing hasn't been announced yet. Import only. Expect a 4–6 week lag from global launch. If this were officially sold in India, it would cost roughly the same as 18 months of Netflix — assuming LEGO India's usual enthusiasm for your wallet.
For those who admire such ambitious creations, the only way to get something similar would be through personal import or if the builder decides to sell it privately. It’s a dream build for many, but a very expensive and logistically challenging one at that.
On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.
Verdict: IMPORT ONLY. Not in Indian stores — grey market or wait.
