LEGO The Enderman Tower (21279): Worth ₹10,999?

Your wallet just did a nervous twitch, didn't it? The LEGO Enderman Tower (21279) is here, and while it brings a popular Minecraft character to life, the price tag is a conversation starter nobody asked for. This isn't a small set, clocking in at 867 pieces, but that number alone doesn't justify the cost when you see the final build.

Let's talk about the Enderman. It's a surprisingly decent rendition, standing tall with that iconic, lanky, purple-eyed menace. The build for the Enderman itself is clever, utilizing a good mix of Technic elements for posability and System bricks for its blocky form. You can actually get it into some dynamic stances, which is a win for any Minecraft fan who wants to recreate those tense in-game encounters. The set also includes a small mushroom forest and a couple of Endermites, adding some environmental detail and a bit of extra play value. The mushroom pieces are colourful and well-executed, and the Endermites are tiny, creepy additions that fit the theme perfectly.

However, the "Tower" part of the name feels a bit generous. It's more of a precarious stack of dark grey and black bricks. While it serves as a backdrop for the Enderman and the hostile mobs, it lacks architectural interest. It's functional, yes, but not exactly a display piece you'll want to showcase front and center. The build experience for the tower itself is repetitive; you're essentially building similar modules over and over. This can become tedious, especially given the set's price point. It feels like the piece count is inflated to justify the cost, rather than being packed with innovative building techniques or genuinely exciting features.

The play features are minimal. You can have the Enderman battle the mobs, or perhaps have it "teleport" by being placed on different sections of the tower. There's a small treasure chest with some emeralds and other Minecraft goodies, which is always a nice touch. But compared to other large-scale LEGO sets, especially those in the Creator Expert or Ideas line, the Enderman Tower feels a little… empty. It’s a set that relies heavily on the Minecraft license rather than offering a compelling LEGO experience on its own merits.

For a Minecraft fan, the Enderman is the star, and it doesn't disappoint. But if you're looking for a robust build, intricate design, or a tower that lives up to its name, this might fall short. The value proposition is questionable. You're paying a premium for a single, albeit well-executed, character and a somewhat uninspired structure.

In India, the LEGO Enderman Tower (21279) is available at LEGO.in for ₹10,999 and at Toycra for ₹11,999. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. That's enough for 11kg of decent mangoes or nearly three months of unlimited chai from your favourite street vendor. LEGO.in | Toycra.

The build quality is solid, as expected from LEGO, and the connection points are secure. It’s a sturdy set once assembled, which is good if it’s going to be handled by younger builders. But for the older crowd, the lack of display appeal and the repetitive building process might be dealbreakers. It’s a niche product, aimed squarely at dedicated Minecraft players who have a soft spot for the Enderman and don’t mind paying the LEGO tax for it. If this were priced closer to the ₹7,000–8,000 mark, it would be an easy recommendation. At its current price, however, waiting for a sale or a significant discount seems like the most sensible approach.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

At review, it was priced at ₹10,999 on LEGO.in and Toycra. Verdict: WAIT.

Standard disclaimer: rich readers can skip the verdict and just buy it. We'll be over here checking if LEGO.in's HDFC EMI discount makes this hurt less.
