Your wallet just coughed. The LEGO Baratie Floating Restaurant (75640) is here, and it’s not exactly a bargain. This set drops you right into the middle of a pivotal moment from One Piece, the iconic anime series. For the uninitiated, the Baratie is a sea-faring restaurant captained by the legendary Zeff, and it's where Sanji first joins Monkey D. Luffy's Straw Hat Pirates. It’s a significant location for fans, and LEGO’s attempt to translate it into brick form is… interesting.

Let’s talk about the build. It’s a complex structure, as you’d expect for a restaurant that floats. The designers have done a decent job capturing the ship’s unique aesthetic, from its rotating dining room to the various kitchen and galley areas. There are some clever building techniques used, particularly in how the different sections of the ship connect. The exterior details, like the cannons and the distinctive hull shape, are recognisable. It’s a display piece, no doubt about it, and it’s substantial enough to command attention on a shelf.

The minifigure selection is, as usual for these big licensed sets, a major draw. We get Sanji in his chef’s attire, Zeff (in his iconic full-length trousers, which is a nice touch), Mihawk, and a couple of Baratie chefs. For dedicated One Piece fans, these figures alone might justify the price. The detail on the minifigures is excellent, capturing the characters’ distinct looks faithfully.

However, and there’s always a ‘however’ with these premium sets, the price is the sticking point. For ₹32,999, you’re getting 3,398 pieces. That’s roughly ₹9.71 per piece, about average for a licensed theme. While the piece count isn't everything, especially with large pre-formed hull pieces and specialized elements, it’s hard to ignore when the final tag is this high. The play features are there – opening sections, moving parts – but they feel more like afterthoughts than the core of the experience. The interior spaces, while detailed, can feel a bit cramped once you try to pose the minifigures inside. It’s more of a model than a playset, which is fine, but for this price, you expect a bit more… wow factor in the build itself or the playability.

The One Piece theme is incredibly popular in India, and fans have been clamouring for more sets. This Baratie restaurant is a fan-favourite location, and LEGO has delivered a recognisable model. But the execution, while good, doesn't quite reach the heights of some other UCS (Ultimate Collector Series) or large-scale sets. It feels like a set that caters heavily to the existing fanbase, and the price point will undoubtedly be a barrier for many, even those who love the anime.

In India, LEGO.in lists The Baratie Floating Restaurant (75640) for ₹32,999, while Toycra offers it at a more palatable ₹24,749. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. That price difference is massive – it’s the difference between three months of Netflix Premium or a substantial chunk of your monthly grocery bill. Given the high RRP, waiting for a significant discount, especially at Toycra, is the smart move.

If you’re a die-hard One Piece fan with deep pockets and this specific location holds a lot of sentimental value, then the set will likely bring you joy. The minifigures are fantastic, and the model is recognisable. But for the average LEGO fan, or even a casual One Piece viewer, the price is a hard pill to swallow. It’s a good set, but it’s not a great value proposition at its current retail price in India. The potential for future One Piece sets is exciting, and hopefully, they’ll strike a better balance between fan service and affordability. For now, this Baratie is a luxury item.
