LEGO Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook (10351): Worth ₹8,959?

Your wallet just breathed a sigh of relief. The LEGO Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook (10351) isn't going to break the bank, but it might snag your brain cells for a while. This one landed with a quiet thud, no major fanfares, just a steady stream of images showing a rather charming little slice of Baker Street. It’s part of that ever-growing Book Nook series, designed to sit on your bookshelf and, well, look bookish.

This set gives you 1,359 pieces to construct a detailed diorama of Sherlock Holmes's iconic study. We're talking the violin, the chemistry set, the deerstalker hat, and of course, the magnifying glass. It’s a compact build, focused on detail rather than sheer scale. The instruction manual, which is where the build experience really happens for these smaller sets, looks pretty standard. No major surprises expected here, just the usual satisfying click of bricks coming together to form something recognisable. The colour palette is appropriately muted – lots of browns, greys, and blacks, fitting the Victorian era and the dimly lit study vibe.

The design itself is where this set shines. LEGO has managed to pack a surprising amount of character into such a small space. The little details are what make it. You get a miniature Watson, a fireplace with a tiny flame, and all the accoutrements of a consulting detective’s workspace. It’s a set that rewards close inspection. It’s not a play set; this is for display. It’s meant to sit alongside your actual books, adding a touch of LEGO whimsy to your shelf. The build process is likely to be straightforward, with perhaps a few clever techniques used to achieve certain shapes, like the curving walls of the room or the intricate details on the furniture.

The piece count is solid for the theme, and you get a good number of printed elements which is always a plus. No stickers here, thank goodness. The mini-figures are a nice bonus, adding life to the scene, even if they are just standard minifigure designs. For fans of Sherlock Holmes, this is a no-brainer. It’s a lovingly crafted tribute to one of literature's most famous characters and his legendary abode. Even if you’re not a massive Holmes fan, the aesthetic appeal of the Book Nook series is undeniable. They’re conversation starters, elegant additions to a home office or living room.

The price, however, is where things get interesting. At ₹8,959 from Toycra, it feels about right for the piece count and the licensing. LEGO.in has it for ₹12,799, which is a hard pass. The difference is substantial. This isn’t a set that screams "buy immediately" if you’re not a die-hard fan. It’s a niche item, and while well-executed, its appeal is specific. The build is unlikely to be revolutionary, and the display value, while high for fans, might be moderate for others. It’s a good set, a solid 4 out of 5, but the price point, especially at LEGO.in, demands patience. Wait for a sale, or at least aim for the Toycra price.

At ₹8,959, that's 10 months of Spotify Premium. Toycra has it for ₹8,959; code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. LEGO.in has it for ₹12,799.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

At review, it was priced at ₹9,599 on Toycra (₹12,799 on LEGO.in). Verdict: WAIT.

Standard disclaimer: rich readers can skip the verdict and just buy it. We'll be over here checking if LEGO.in's HDFC EMI discount makes this hurt less.
