LEGO has surprised us by expanding this theme beyond sports icons to include pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo. While we previously saw football and F1 moments immortalised in brick, this new wave dives headfirst into contemporary music. Olivia Rodrigo, with her two massive albums and sold-out tours, is undeniably a huge name.

This particular set, 43028 Olivia Rodrigo's Vinyl, aims to capture her recognisable aesthetic – all purple hues, butterflies, and stars. And yes, it includes Olivia herself as a minifigure. Now, the reviewer admits many of us might not be her target demographic. Fair enough. But the build itself is a representation of a vinyl record, designed to be hung on a wall or displayed on a surface. It’s a 360-piece set, and at £24.99 / $34.99 / €29.99, the price per piece isn't exactly alarming, coming in at around 7p per brick.

The minifigure is a highlight. It depicts Olivia Rodrigo in a glittery silver dress, inspired by her 2022 SOUR tour outfit. It’s a solid representation, capturing her stage presence.

The reviewer notes an interesting SNOT technique used to reverse stud direction on the rear, with colour-coding to ensure correct assembly. For the casual LEGO builder, however, the appeal might be limited. It’s a niche product, and while the build techniques are decent and the minifigure is well-executed, the overall set might feel a bit too specific for a general audience. It’s fun, it’s functional as a display, and it has a neat little trick up its sleeve, but it doesn't push any major LEGO boundaries.
