LEGO NINJAGO Mini Sets Review (71862): Worth ₹999?

Your wallet just got a notification and it’s not a bank alert – it’s the price tag on the new Ninjago mini‑sets. ₹999 for a set that promises dragon claws and a showdown with familiar foes will make any EMI calculator wince. The June/August 2026 wave brings four bite‑size battles: 71862, 71863, 71864 and 71865. I built them back‑to‑back, so I can tell you which ones deserve a spot on your shelf and which are better left on the box.

First up, 71862. At 81 pieces, it’s a quick build that feels like a warm‑up. The instruction flow is clean – no confusing color‑code swaps, just a steady progression from the base plate to the final dragon‑claw weapon. The result is a compact diorama that fits nicely on a desk or a bookshelf. The minifigures are the usual Ninjago crew, each with a distinct pose that adds a splash of action. The build isn’t a masterclass in technique, but it does a solid job of delivering a recognizable scene without demanding hours of concentration.

71863 follows the same formula, swapping the dragon claws for a new vehicle. The vehicle’s hinges allow for a modest pose, and the inclusion of a small accessory – a crystal‑shaped power‑up – gives the set a tiny twist. The piece variety is modest; you’ll see a lot of standard bricks, a few slopes, and a handful of printed tiles that bring the Ninjago branding to life. For the price, the set feels like a decent entry point for younger builders or anyone looking for a quick display piece.

71864 and 71865 round out the quartet with a focus on antagonists. The enemy minifigures sport darker color schemes and a few unique printed parts that make them stand out. The battle pose they create, with a raised weapon and a dramatic stance, is the highlight of the set. However, the overall build is essentially a re‑hash of the earlier sets – same base, same brick count, just a different colour palette. If you already own 71862, the incremental value of 71864 is marginal.

From a design perspective, these sets are clearly aimed at the low‑end of the Ninjago spectrum. They are not trying to reinvent the wheel; instead, they provide a familiar, low‑piece‑count experience that can be assembled in under an hour. The aesthetics are clean enough for a casual display, but they lack the wow factor of larger, more intricate Ninjago sets that feature larger vehicles or elaborate play features. In terms of value‑for‑pieces, the price point of ₹999 is aggressive, and the sets deliver exactly what they promise: a quick build, a recognizable theme, and a modest display piece.

If you’re a collector hunting for every Ninjago release, you’ll likely grab all four for the sake of completeness. If you’re more price‑conscious, the low price makes it a no‑brainer to pick at least one – especially 71862, which feels like the most balanced of the batch. The sets are also a good gateway for kids who are just getting into LEGO, offering a manageable piece count and a familiar brand.

Overall, the wave is a mixed bag. The builds are competent, the designs are serviceable, and the price is hard to argue with. They won’t replace a flagship Ninjago set, but they serve a purpose: affordable, quick‑fire fun. For Indian fans, the fact that both LEGO.in and Toycra list the sets at ₹999 makes the decision easy – you can snag one without breaking the bank.

₹999 LEGO.in: ₹999 (may be out of stock). Toycra: ₹999 — Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. That is 12 months of Spotify Premium.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

At review, it was priced at ₹999 on LEGO.in and Toycra. Verdict: BUY NOW.

Standard disclaimer: if you've got the money, obviously buy it — that's what the verdict says too, for once we all agree.
