LEGO Medieval Town Square (10332): Worth ₹23,999?

Your wallet just took a trip back in time, and it’s not a happy one. The LEGO Medieval Town Square (10332) has landed in India, and it’s priced at a cool ₹23,999. That’s a significant chunk of change, even for a set boasting over 3,300 pieces and a nostalgic nod to a beloved older set. This isn't a casual purchase; it's an investment in plastic history.

This set reimagines the 2009 Medieval Market Village, bringing the fictional village of Felsa to life. It’s a sprawling build, featuring five distinct buildings: an old farmhouse, a cheese factory, the Broken Axes Inn, a shieldsmith’s workshop, and a watchtower. The sheer number of structures offers a lot of display potential, allowing you to arrange them in various configurations to tell different stories. The level of detail within each building is impressive, with intricate interiors and accessories that really bring the medieval setting to life. The crane in the carpentry workshop and the secret compartment in the inn’s guest room are nice touches, adding a bit of playability to what is primarily a display piece.

The minifigure count is generous, with eight characters to populate your medieval scene. You get a crook, a carpenter, a tax collector, a tapestry weaver, a shieldsmith, and a tower guard, plus two more figures whose roles aren't immediately obvious but add to the village’s character. These figures are well-designed and add a lot of personality to the set, making it feel like a truly lived-in village. For fans of the original Medieval Market Village, this set offers a chance to revisit that world with modern building techniques and updated minifigure designs.

However, the price is undeniably the elephant in the room. At ₹23,999, it’s a steep entry fee. While the piece count is substantial and the detail is high, you’re paying a premium for the Icons branding and the nostalgia factor. For that price, you could acquire several smaller, equally enjoyable sets, or perhaps a significant portion of another, larger display piece. The decision to buy this set will likely come down to how much you value the medieval theme and the connection to the older set. If you're a die-hard fan of medieval LEGO or a collector of the Icons line, the price might be justifiable. For the more budget-conscious builder, it might be worth waiting for a potential sale or considering other options.

The build process itself is described as immersive, suitable for solo builders or group projects. The inclusion of digital building instructions via the LEGO Builder app is a standard but welcome feature. The dimensions are also quite substantial, with the watchtower alone standing over 25 cm tall and the entire display measuring over 36 cm wide. This is a set that demands space, both on your building table and on your display shelf.

At review, it was priced at ₹23,999 on Toycra. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. Verdict: WAIT.

Standard disclaimer: rich readers can skip the verdict and just buy it. Toycra's prepaid-only, so the rest of us will be here doing sums before we hit checkout.

The set offers a lot for the dedicated fan, but the price point makes it a difficult recommendation for anyone not deeply invested in this particular theme. It’s a beautiful display piece with excellent detail and a strong nostalgic pull, but the cost means it’s a definite wait-and-see for most.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
