LEGO Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (21351): Worth ₹17,299?

Your wallet called. It wants to discuss the LEGO Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (21351). Ten thousand pieces? No, not quite. But this one is still a serious commitment, and at ₹17,299 from LEGO.in, it’s not exactly pocket change. It’s a full-blown conversation with your bank account, and frankly, they’re not always on the same page.

LEGO has finally brought Tim Burton's iconic stop-motion masterpiece to life in brick form. This isn't just another character build; it's a recreation of Halloween Town itself. The set boasts a substantial piece count and focuses on the spooky, charming aesthetic of the film. You get the iconic spiral hill, Jack Skellington's house, and a few key characters. The build itself, according to reports, offers a decent experience. It uses a lot of unique parts and colour schemes, fitting the film's distinctive visual style. If you’re a fan of the movie, the details are likely to bring a smile to your face, or perhaps a slight grimace of recognition for how much this is going to cost.

The characters included are Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, and Zero. They’re rendered in that classic LEGO minifigure style, which is a bit of a departure from their film counterparts but still recognisable. The real star, however, is the environment. The spiral hill section is particularly well-done, capturing that unsettling yet captivating look. Jack's house is also a highlight, complete with its crooked architecture.

Now, let's talk about the price. ₹17,299 is a significant chunk of change. For that price, you'd expect a truly epic build, a massive display piece, or an incredible value proposition in terms of parts. While the set is detailed and captures the essence of the film, it doesn't quite hit those marks. The piece count, while respectable, doesn't scream "value" at this price point. You're paying a premium for the license and the unique aesthetic. It’s a set for the die-hard fans, the ones who will overlook the price pain for the sheer joy of owning a piece of Halloween Town in LEGO form. For everyone else, the price might be a bit too much to swallow.

The build experience is reportedly solid, with interesting building techniques employed to create the organic shapes and creepy details. It’s not going to be a repetitive slog, which is good. LEGO has managed to translate the film's unique visual language into plastic bricks effectively. The colour palette is deliberately muted and dark, with pops of colour that mirror the film's deliberate artistic choices. It’s a set that will look good on a shelf, especially if you’re already a fan of the movie.

However, the Verdict is a definite WAIT. While the set is a good representation of the film, the price point is steep. LEGO.in has it at ₹17,299, and Toycra is asking ₹18,999. That's enough to cover your Netflix and Spotify subscriptions for over a year, maybe even two if you’re frugal. Wait for a sale, a discount, or a special offer. LEGO sets, especially licensed ones, do tend to come down in price eventually, and this one feels like it could benefit from a price adjustment.

In India, the LEGO Disney Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (21351) is available at LEGO.in for ₹17,299. Toycra has it for ₹18,999. If you're a massive fan of the movie and have the disposable income, then sure, go for it. But for the average LEGO fan, this is a tough pill to swallow financially. The rating reflects the set itself — it's a good set, well-designed, and captures the spirit of the film. But the price is the elephant in the room, or rather, the Oogie Boogie in the room. It’s a solid 3 out of 5 for the set’s merits, but a definite WAIT for the price.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

At review, it was priced at ₹17,299 on LEGO.in (₹18,999 on Toycra). Verdict: WAIT.

Standard disclaimer: rich readers can skip the verdict and just buy it. We'll be over here checking if LEGO.in's HDFC EMI discount makes this hurt less.
