LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey (21373) Arrives with Castle Festival

The LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey set (21373) is here, and your wallet is already bracing for impact. Official Indian pricing is set at a hefty ₹33,600. That's a serious investment, even for fans of the stately home.

To mark the global release of this incredibly detailed replica of Highclere Castle, the real-life Downton Abbey is hosting its first-ever Literary Festival. Lady Carnarvon herself is apparently quite taken with the set, even displaying it at the castle entrance. There's even a rumour that attendees might get a chance to help her assemble a second one. Imagine that – building Downton Abbey at Downton Abbey.

The festival runs over the weekend of October 3rd and 4th. It’s pitched as a family day out, featuring workshops with children's authors like Hugh Bonneville and the Tsang duo. There’s also a Garden Story Trail and an Alice in Wonderland performance. For the grown-ups, there are creative writing sessions and a chance to hear Charles Dickens’ great great grandson. Plus, you can explore the castle itself and its Egyptian Exhibition, if you can snag tickets. It sounds like a proper grand day out.

Adding a brick-built dimension to the literary celebrations, the Brickish LEGO User Group will be present. They’re setting up a building zone with free play bins for the kids, and will be running a “Tallest Tower” competition with a 60-second time limit using only 2x4 bricks. It’s a nice touch, bringing LEGO into the mix for the younger attendees. This event is also a lead-in for another big LEGO gathering: the Great Western Brick Show happening the following weekend in Swindon.

Official Indian pricing hasn't been announced yet. LEGO.in and Toycra are the stores to watch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500. Expect a 4–6 week lag from global launch. That's roughly the cost of 18 months of Netflix Premium.

This is a massive set, clearly aimed at the dedicated fan who appreciates intricate detail and has the space – and budget – to display it. While the festival sounds like a unique way to celebrate its launch, the price point puts it firmly in the 'consider carefully' category for most. It’s a conversation starter, both the set and the associated event.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
